2016-17 Fine Arts Schedule

The Fine Arts Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church is the center for live classical music performances in Bonita Springs.  We work to bring the best local artists as well as guests from around the country to present the finest classical music possible.  Once again the Naples Philharmonic plays a significant role in our series with two concerts highlighting symphonies of Beethoven and Mozart.  Seeing the Naples Philharmonic here in Bonita is a great value.  Ticket prices are inexpensive, and they are right in our own back yard!

The Southwest Florida Symphony will appear in December in an exciting Christmas program that will include the Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida.  The thrilling Tim Zimmerman and the Kings Brass returns.  They fill the room with the glorious sound of brass and organ music.  Gulf Coast Opera returns with another high powered star.  Singer Patricia Racette has performed her Diva on Detour program all over the world.

Our final program is especially exciting.  We will be hosting the world premiere performance of Jason Bahr’s Second Symphony.  Dr. Bahr is a professor of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University who is an award winning composer.  This thrilling masterwork will feature a large professional orchestra, the acclaimed Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers and the newly formed City of Palms Youth Choir.  A concert like this is unprecedented in Southwest Florida.  You will not want to miss it!

The Fine Arts Concert series is present as a fund raising effort for the First Academy of Music – a ministry of First Presbyterian Church that offers private music instruction and group classes to students of all ages.  Money raised through the Fine Arts Series helps fund the financial program at the music school.

School aged students are eligible to apply, and aid is given on the basis of need.  We are the only private music school in Southwest Florida that offers this kind of assistance.  You can see that this concert series not only brings great classical music to Bonita Springs, but helps to develop the future of excellent music in our community.

I hope you enjoy the music!
